ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The University of New Mexico volleyball team is already in Week Two of preseason practice.

Head coach Jeff Nelson is in his 11th season with the Lobos. They have eight true freshmen but based on early workouts, they're not playing or acting like freshman likely because of their previous training.

"I think they've all been really good where they're at and they've had good coaching so I think it's been easy for them to come in and train well," Nelson said. "Freshmen don't always know what they're supposed to or not supposed to do and right now they're doing a lot more good things."

"The freshmen are fitting in great with our team and they're super energetic and there's no nervousness, which is different then what freshmen normally experience," added sophomore Lauren Twitty.

UNM's first home matches will be the weekend of Sept. 8 against UT Arlington, Portland and Northern Colorado at the Lobo Classic.
