ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The New Mexico State men's basketball team is preparing for their first opponent in the NCAA tournament. The Aggies will take on the Clemson Tigers Friday in San Diego. The game will be on TruTv.

The Aggies clinched a spot in the bracket after winning the Western Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday. First-year Aggies coach Chris Jans said this team can do some damage, pointing to wins earlier this year against Miami and Davidson.

"I think this team has what it takes to win tournament games," he said. "They've played really well on the platforms that we played on thus far this year."

However, there will be no postseason for the UNM men's basketball team. Saturday's loss in the Mountain West tournament title game to San Diego State was the UNM's final game of the year. The Lobos did not earn a bid to the NIT and chose not to take part in the CBI tournament, which requires a fee from each school.

Paul Weir and the Lobos end the season with a record of 19-15.

The UNM women's basketball team received an at-large invite to play in the Women's WNIT. The Lobos will take on St. Mary's Thursday night at Johnson Gym. Start time and ticket information to be released Tuesday, but it's likely to be a 7 p.m. tipoff.

The Lobos are 23-10 this season.
