ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico men’s soccer team has been picked to finish second in the Conference USA preseason coaches’ poll.

UNM sophomores Tom Smart and Matthew Constant were also named to the All-Conference team.

The Lobos start the season ranked 20th in the country, and this year’s slate of opponents will provide tough test after tough test.

“We play eight teams that were in the NCAA Tournament last year. So out of 17 regular season games, about half of them are against NCAA Tournament participants,” said head coach Jeremy Fishbein. “I think it would be one of the stronger schedules in the country, and that’s who we want to play.”

The Lobos host Air Force in an exhibition match Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
