LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- The New Mexico State men's basketball team is picked to finish second by both the coaches and the media in the preseason Western Athletic Conference polls, which were released Wednesday.

NMSU's Eli Chuha earned preseason All-WAC first team honors, but there will be plenty of new faces alongside new head coach Chris Jans.

"When you first take a job and look at all the returnees, it looked very exciting," Jans said. "But when the dust settled, like I said, there were only three players on scholarship that actually played in a WAC basketball game.  So there will be a lot of new faces.  The Aggie fans will need their programs this year to figure out who's on the floor."

The NMSU women's basketball team was picked to finish first in both the WAC media and coaches polls. Junior Brooke Salas was named All-WAC first team.

The Aggies are led by first-year head coach Brooke Atkinson.
