UNM's Stajduhar drafted by Mets

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- It took a while, but the best power hitter in the Lobos lineup -- Carl Stadjuhar -- was picked in the 18th round by the New York Mets.

Stajduhar hit .350 with 17 home runs and 69 RBIs. He was selected out of high school by the Atlanta Braves in the 27th round but decided to play college baseball for the Lobos.

Four Lobos were taken in the draft, led by Luis Gonzalez who is headed to Arizona where the White Sox train. Jack Zoellner and Tyler Stevens were also drafted

Two Aggies were picked. Daniel Johnson was selected by the Nationals and his teammate Marcel Renteria is going to National League East rival Mets.

The only New Mexico high school player picked was Trevor Rogers, who is going to the Marlins.
