RIO RANCHO, N.M. -- The University of New Mexico men's basketball team moved its workout to Rio Rancho High School Tuesday. It's part of a plan to showcase the program throughout the local community.

New head coach Paul Weir said these players are picking up his system quicker than he thought.

"I'm usually a pessimistic guy, but these guys are at a very good point for Oct. 10," he said. "I'm excited about where we are and how we're coming along. We need to keep improving and keep growing but right now I don't have a lot of bad things to say."

The Lobos will be at La Cueva High School next Tuesday and Albuquerque high the following week. The practices are open to the public.
