ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- University of New Mexico football coach Bob Davie said Monday that Lamar Jordan will get the start at quarterback this Friday against Colorado State.

The Lobos are coming off a shutout loss at Fresno State on Saturday, a game where Jordan was swapped out for freshman Tevaka Tuioti. Davie said it's two quarterbacks moving forward but Lamar is the guy. Davie feels Tuioti is too talented to leave on the sidelines.

"The combination of being behind and -- we really struggled running it in the game -- led us to go with Tevaka," Davie said. "You'd like to see him in there when it's nothing-nothing to run the whole offense because I think he can. But in the same token, I'd like to see Lamar get some opportunities to throw it without being under duress. We've given him no help."

"Whatever happens to Lamar my role is as a backup, just be prepared at all times," Tuioti added. "So worst case scenario if anything goes wrong with Lamar, then I'll be the next man up."

Friday's game against Colorado State is an 8:15 p.m. kickoff on ESPN2.

The New Mexico State football team has a bye this week. The Aggies are 3-4 on the year and won't play again until Oct. 28 when they host Arkansas State.
