ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - There's a new exhibit at the Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum. It promotes the Hall of Fame inductees and ballooning as a STEM field.
"This new exhibition really draws out the amazing story and achievements of these legends, these aeronauts," said museum manager Paul Garver.
He says it took almost a year to renovate the space. The "Voyages of Discovery" goes into the history of balloon pilots and their many accomplishments.
The exhibit features an interactive center. People can learn about the hall of fame inductees on a massive touchscreen.
Garver hopes the exhibit pushes people to consider going into STEM fields. He says science and math play big roles in ballooning.
"The connection between STEM and ballooning and lighter-than-air aviation is inseparable. In fact, much of what we've learned about the physical world and science was kind of a back and forth between these balloonists and scientists," Garver said.
The exhibit is permanent so people can enjoy it year-round.
