Thousands utilizing Tag Your Tots program at Balloon Fiesta

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- More than 2,000 children have been tagged in the Tag Your Tots program at Balloon Fiesta.

“Over the weekend, we had a group of kids that got separated from their parents,” said Lt. Mark Soriano. “It was about four kids that got separated and they knew exactly what to do. They came straight to our command post and told us they got separated from their parents and we reunited them."

According to New Mexico State Police, between six and ten children are separated from their family every day at the event. So far, every child has been returned to their parents at the event.

Balloon Fiesta isn’t the only place Tag Your Tots is used.

New Mexico State Police said 8,700 children were tagged at the New Mexico State Fair.
