ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Lindy's Diner helped KOB 4 Pay it 4ward to the volunteers at Roadrunner Food Bank.

Lindy's Diner has been in downtown Albuquerque since the 1920s. The owner said the pandemic has slowed business.

"No Kimo, no movie theater, no tourist, no convention center, there's really no bars, there's nothing going on and no reason for anybody to come downtown," said Dawn Vatoseow, owner of Lindy's Diner.

Vatoseow said the restaurant is doing its best to survive, but times are tough.

To Help Lindy's Diner out, KOB 4 placed a larger order to feed people at the Roadrunner Food Bank.

Every Tuesday morning, for the past few months, volunteers meet up at the Roadrunner Food Bank distribution site near The Pit. They give out food boxes to families that are also struggling.

"This is a great way to recognize them to tell them thank you to show them a little bit of appreciation for coming out," said Sonya Warwick, representative for the food bank.

The volunteers had no idea they were in for the surprise, and were thankful for the recognition.
