ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— Sharon Levin has been helping the community in the best way she knows how: through cooking food.

Levin has been directing Gourmet To Go catering for the past 30 years. At a chance encounter at a yard sale, Levin met Jane Haagensen.

Levin told Haagensen that she wanted to become more involved with schools.

"She wants to become involved with the school by supporting the school with 50 meals week. And I could hardly speak,” Haagensen said.

The Highland High School Football Team has been enjoying the grub.

"We don't know every kids' situation and so to know that they're at least getting that one meal that's really, you know, everything you want in a meal, is something that's important to us,” said Highland football coach Phil Lovato.

Lovato is a Highland alumni himself.

He and Jane wanted to Pay it 4ward to Levin for helping students in need.

Levin  has never seen the faces of the young men and women who get to enjoy her food, but she said giving back is something that is deeply important to her.

“Do you really want to know? It’s part of my religion,” Levin said. “I’m Jewish and it’s part of giving back, and that’s part of being Jewish.”

Levin said it is important to help others and not judge why they may need help.

"I'm really shocked actually. 'Cause I don't do this — I don't do what I do for recognition. I never expect recognition. I don't care. It's not important to me, but it does feel really nice,” she said.

Levin said she is going to use some of her Pay it 4ward money to treat her staff to lunch—and then maybe get a massage after working her 80 hours a week.
