ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Two people were killed after a car crashed into an apartment in northeast Albuquerque early Sunday morning.

Police say around 3 a.m., a Ford Mustang was driving at a high rate of speed and disregarded a stop sign. Investigators say the car hit a boulder, went airborne and hit an apartment.

The entire incident was caught on surveillance video.

“I got up immediately and ran into the living room and then, I saw the back end of the car and smoke and exhaust filling up the apartment right away," said Billy Carroll who was sleeping inside the apartment.

Carroll and his daughter were able to crawl out of the apartment, escaping injury.

The three people inside the Mustang were ejected. An unidentified man died, along with Cameron Rencehausen. The third victim, Melanie Trujillo is in critical condition.

Police say it’s unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Neighbors say they have been calling for speed bumps on Chelwood Park Blvd. for some time now, to slow drivers down.
