40 nonprofits awarded grants by PNM for work in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – 40 local nonprofits are being recognized for their work in preparing kids for the future.

All 40 groups are splitting $750,000 in grants from the PNM Foundation, including Cultivating Coders, which teaches kids how to code websites, phone apps and even videogames.

"It's investing in our kids early, right? It's saying, 'Let's invest in our kids now,' expose them to all these opportunities all over the world, not just the traditional jobs they hear about growing up in Albuquerque but things outside of Albuquerque," said Charles Ashley III, the nonprofit's president and CEO.

Officials with the PNM Foundation said grant recipients are working to make positive impacts throughout New Mexico.
