APS says La Resolana Leadership Academy, near San Mateo and Central, faced concerns with individual education plans.

“We found some major concerns of federal and state law when it comes to our most needy population, which is our special education students,” explained Joseph Escobedo, Senior Director of APS Charter Schools.

Escobedo says La Resolana Leadership Academy was under APS management for one year. His says during that time, APS learned that “IEPs” were inadequate and special needs students weren’t receiving the support they required.

The charter school served grades sixth through eighth. APS says it will work with the students to ensure they are placed in new schools this fall.
