ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Albuquerque Police say one person is dead and another in the hospital following a shooting near Central and 98th Friday afternoon – the city's second deadly shooting in as many days.

APD Spokesperson Daren DeAguero said officers arrived at the 900 block of Gemstone Road shortly after 4 p.m., where they found the two victims. It is currently unclear if anyone has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A young girl KOB talked to said she witnessed the shooting.

"We were coming outside to play and then this man pulled up in a gold car, and then we saw him open all his car doors over there, and then he opened all his car doors, he opened his trunk and pulled out his gun and started shooting," she said. "It was scary."

That gold car could still be seen at the end of Gemstone Road after police arrived and began to investigate, some of its doors still open. There was also a lot of attention on the part of APD officers on the adjacent street, where a large police presence could be seen, as well as a mobile crime lab.

Another young witness KOB spoke to said he and his father saw the driver of the gold vehicle being arrested.

"They had him in handcuffs," Michael said. "When I pulled up, they were talking him tot he car with the guy with the red shirt and the dreads."

The identities of the victims have also not been released yet.

By KOB's count, this is the 23rd homicide in the City of Albuquerque in 2018.
