ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Homicide detectives with the Albuquerque Police Department are still investigating the death of two people found in a burning vehicle Monday morning.

"Officers were originally dispatched to an aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and a home invasion at two separate locations on Herrera Road NW," according to an email release from APD.

During the home invasion, a car was stolen. Officers are still looking for that car – it was a dark gray Dodge Avenger with New Mexico license plate GMB596.

As police investigated those two incidents, officers also helped Albuquerque Fire Rescue with a car fire just one street south. Two people were found dead inside that car.

Police said they canvassed the scene and found evidence linking the sequence of events.

APD is asking for the public's help locating a male who was seen heading north from the scene. He is described as a Hispanic male, between 5'8" to 5'10", bald and has neck tattoos.

The victim's names have not been released at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call (505) 242-COPS.
