APD identifies victim in Saturday morning shooting; suspect being sought

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Albuquerque Police have identified the victim in an early Saturday morning West Side shooting and also a suspect who detectives are currently seeking out in connection.

27-year-old Johnny Bentacu was found dead from gunshot wounds at Mesa Ridge Apartments off Atrisco when officers arrived, according to APD. Now an individual who may be related to the victim, 28-year-old Martin Bentacu, is being sought out for questioning.

If you have any information on Martin Bentacu's whereabouts, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at (505)843-STOP. 

A third "person of interest" who police had detained for a short time was released "pending a review of the circumstances leading up to the shooting," APD Spokesperson Simon Drobik said.
