APD investigates officer involved shooting in northwest Albuquerque

APD investigates officer involved shooting in northwest Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Police responded to a domestic violence call that ended in an officer involved shooting in northwest Albuquerque early Sunday morning.

APD's Public Information Officer, Simon Drobik, said police arrived near the area of 67th and St. Joseph’s and were confronted with an individual with a rifle.

Officers attempted contact with the armed subject, and the male made threatening statements and fired multiple shots at officers on scene.

Shots were fired by at least one officer on the scene. Officers provided first aid to a male subject.

Rescue personnel arrived on scene and transported the male to UNMH for treatment of injuries he sustained.
