At least 44 drunk drivers arrested in Bernalillo Cty over St. Patty's weekend

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – St. Patrick's Day was on a Saturday for the first time in some years, and Albuquerque joined the rest of the country in celebrating at parties and bars throughout the city.

Law enforcement officials were out in full force both Friday and Saturday nights to crack down on drunk drivers.

As of Sunday afternoon, there had been 44 DWI arrests in Bernalillo County just this weekend – a result of the combination of New Mexico's reputation as one of the worst states for DWIs and Gov. Susana Martinez's Friday announcement that police across the state would be all hands on deck to arrest those drivers.
