ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Eight Albuquerque Public Schools will be welcoming back students today.

The schools run off of the district's alternative schedule giving students less of a summer break, but instead, shorter, more frequent breaks throughout the year.

Some parents say it works better with their schedules and teachers say there's a big benefit to the students.

"Academically I think it works because I feel like I don't have to review as much, the knowledge comes in, they don't forget as much over the summer," said one teacher.

The rest of APS will start August 13th.
