Bern. Co. approves salary increases for elected officials

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Elected officials in Bernalillo County will receive a bump in their salaries at the beginning of 2019.
The measure was approved by the commission on a 4 to 1 vote
Those whose term of office starts on Jan. 1, 2019 are eligible for the salary increase. Midterm elected county officials will be eligible for the increase on Jan. 1, 2021.
“We have not had the opportunity to give our elected public servants a pay increase since 2006,” Julie Morgas Baca, County Manager said. “The County is now in a position to give these increases and honor those who run for office and serve the residents of this great County.”
Below are the current and approved salaries, by position:
County Commissioner $29,569 $39,106
Treasurer $65,501 $86,626
Assessor $65,501 $86,626
Sheriff $68,308 $90,338
Clerk $65,501 $86,626
Probate Judge $28,820 $38,144
