AZTEC, N.M. -- First responders from across Bernalillo County are in Aztec today to help with grief counseling. This comes in the wake of the tragic deaths of two teenagers during a shooting last Thursday at Aztec High School.

Members from Bernalillo County and Albuquerque Fire Departments are there as well as team members from Rio Rancho Fire and Rescue and Albuquerque Ambulance. The departments are all members of the Metro Peer Support Team, a group of first-responders that provides counseling assistance to cities and towns across New Mexico.

Officials in Aztec asked for the team to help in counseling teachers, parents, first responders and others in need during this difficult time.  The Metro Peer Support Team was created in 2016 and has since helped multiple cities.
