Train collision near Belen Rail Runner station

BELEN, N.M. – Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad has confirmed a train collision near the Belen Rail Runner station.

According to BNSF, two BNSF trains were involved. Two staff members went to the hospital for evaluation/treatment. There were a total of five staff members on the two trains. No life-threatening injuries reported.

Crews are on site evaluating the work needed to re-rail or removed damaged locomotives and cars. 

The area is being checked for any leaks or spills.
