Brief shelter-in-place occurred Wednesday morning at Rio Grande High School

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Rio Grande High School was briefly under a shelter-in-place order Wednesday morning following reports of two individuals with weapons in the student parking lot.

According to a letter sent to families, the two individuals were law enforcement officers who used the student parking lot to transfer equipment to another vehicle.

"School safety is a community responsibility, and we encourage students, staff, and neighbors to alert us when they learn of potential threats to our school."

The shelter-in-place order was put in place at 10:59 a.m. and it was lifted at 11:12 a.m.
