ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The City of Albuquerque removed a caboose that was attached to two train cars at the Rail Yards Friday morning.

All three train cars were meant to be removed, but the equipment needed to remove them all did not arrive on time because of inclement weather.

A crane hoisted the four-ton caboose and placed it on the back of a trailer. Once it was secured properly, it was taken to its new home.

Carmelina Hart, public information officer for the city's planning department, said removing the train cars is the first step of remediation for the Rail Yards. When they are removed, the city might demolish some buildings to prep the site for redevelopment.

The two other train cars will be removed next week.
