City of Albuquerque, Rio Rancho closed due to heavy snowfall

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Non-essential services and city offices in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho are closed Tuesday due to inclement weather conditions. 

City officials are encouraging residents to stay home to avoid "extremely poor" driving conditions.

There's been heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures across the state.

ALBUQUERQUE

  • The city's Department of Municipal Development currently has 30 sanding and plowing trucks working to clear the icy roads. 
  • The Solid Waste Department has canceled residential and commercial trash and recycling pick-up for today. Services will be delayed one day. SWD Convenience Centers will be closed to the public as well. 
  • ABQ Ride has suspended service routes 766 and 777 and is currently seeing delays on ABQ Ride fixed routes and Sun Van services. 

RIO RANCHO

  • City of Rio Rancho offices and facilities are closed.
  • Travel is highly discouraged. For the latest snow/ice removal information, click here.

BERNALILLO COUNTY

  • All county offices will be closed due to the inclement weather.
  • All voting locations will open at 10 a.m.

OTHER CLOSURES

  • Kirtland Air Force Base 
  • University of New Mexico, UNM Children's Campus
