ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Two people were injured in a four-vehicle crash that shut down westbound I-40 near 12th Street Friday evening, police say.

The crash occurred between 12th Street and Rio Grande Boulevard, Albuquerque Police Department Public Information Officer Daren DeAguero said. One person is listed in critical condition and was taken to UNM Hospital. The other injured person sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Motorists are being diverted off the interstate and can get back on at Rio Grande, DeAguero said. Traffic cameras showed major congestion in the area.
