ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Crews from the Albuquerque metro are preparing to help fight the Ute Park Fire in northern New Mexico.

Richard Healy, with The Bernalillo County Fire Department, says he’s been in direct contact with state officials as they closely monitor the Ute Park Fire. Healy says once he gets the call, his team will work alongside other agencies from across the state.

The Sandoval County Fire Department sent a crew up to fight the Ute Park Fire Friday.

"It's more of a team effort. I wouldn't say it's all down to one unit,” Healy said.

It’s a dangerous job, but Healy says it’s one his team is prepared to take on.

“They love to go out there and just help out the communities around, that's just what they're about."

Healy expects to get the call to help Saturday morning.
