ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Children Youth and Families Department (CYFD) has reached a settlement in a lawsuit regarding childcare assistance payments.
The settlement will require CYFD to provide increased access to child care assistance to families across New Mexico.
The department will maintain the income cap of the program at 200% of the federal poverty level.
A public hearing on the change is set for 11 a.m. on July 8 at Apodaca Hall, 1120 Paseo de Peralta, Santa Fe, N.M.
This story updates a previous version which said, "only families who make 160-percent or less of the poverty level will be eligible for assistance in paying for daycare or preschool."
