ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – While many homicide cases are unsolved, authorities say they were finally able to solve one from 2016 thanks to what would have been a deathbed confession.

The district attorney says Frank Frometa admitted that he murdered someone last month when he was in the hospital. He reportedly told the nurse that he was responsible for the murder of Wilfred Salas in December 2016.

The body of Salas was found outside his home near Lomas and Edith, and his murder remained a mystery for over a year.

But Frometa didn't die like he thought he would. He recovered from his injuries and was eventually arrested.

Now jurors have found him guilty of second-degree murder. His sentencing is set for July.
