ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – An avid cyclist received a pretty big honor from the city of Albuquerque on Saturday.

John Myers says he has ridden his bike to work via the Paseo del Bosque trail for the past 20 years, calling it a gem of the community.

On Sunday, a portion of that very same trail was dedicated to him.

City officials say they wanted Myers to be recognized for his lifelong community service to Albuquerque, in a moment that was very special for him.

“I’m very, very honored to have this celebration. I have a lot of great people here that have been real supportive of me and the bicycle community,” he said on Saturday.

Myers said he was humbled by the experience, added that he’s pleased to help more people experience and enjoy the beauty of the trail.
