ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A repeat offender is back behind bars, accused of running from officers in a stolen vehicle.

Bernalillo County Sheriff's deputies say they spotted 25-year-old Jonathan Benavidez driving a stolen SUV on Saturday. When they tried to pull him over, he took off and led them on a pursuit. He finally got out of the SUV, taking off on foot.

Deputies arrested Benavidez in the backyard of a home near San Mateo and Menaul. He is facing multiple charges.

Benavidez is no stranger to law enforcement. Court documents show last month he conspired with a pair of repeat offenders to burglarize a family's car during Balloon Fiesta.

A camera, credit cards and some cash were taken. Police recovered the camera at a local pawn shop. They say Benavidez pawned it for just about $300.

Surveillance video from an Albuquerque Kohl's shows Melaquias Romero and Amber Nicole Salazar using the stolen cards. Officers compared that video to pictures the offenders took on the stolen camera. The evidence was used to identify them.
