ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico State Police say a man wanted for shooting at police was spotted in the Española area Saturday evening, spurring a search that includes air support.

Johnny Black, 32, should be considered armed and dangerous, NMSP officials say. He is wanted for shooting at State Police during a pursuit earlier this week that stemmed from a routine traffic stop.

Black is also the primary suspect in the investigation of the shooting of a Rio Arriba County Deputy on June 7, police say.

He stands 5 feet 10 tall, weighs about 150 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. Black also has tattoos on his right leg, left shoulder, right shoulder and left side of his neck.
