Gonzales is facing numerous charges, including child abuse resulting in death.

Investigators no longer believe Gonzales was at the home when Victoria was killed in 2016. They say Gonzales and Victoria’s mother, Michelle Martens, left Victoria in the care of Gonzales' cousin, Jessica Kelley.

Kelley told a judge last week that a man who was looking for Gonzales killed Victoria. Kelley attempted to strike a plea deal with prosecutors, but a judge rejected it.

Court documents claim Victoria may have been killed over a gang dispute involving Gonzales.

Gonzales is scheduled to go on trial in October.
