Facing investigation, Belen's police chief resigns

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— Belen's top cop is leaving the police department.


Friday, Chief Scott Conner submitted his resignation letter to the mayor.

According to Mayor Jerah Cordova, Conner will take a job as police chief in Mountain Home, Idaho.

Conner’s resignation comes after the city opened an investigation into financial policy-related matters.

“The investigation surrounds annual audit findings which uncover a number of issues with the police department and chief,” said Mayor Cordova.

Conner signed his resignation letter, effective Dec. 21.
