FARMINGTON, N.M. - People in the Four Corners are making preparations to welcome home local star and recent winner of The Voice, Chevel Shepherd.

The city of Farmington is teaming up with local law enforcement and fire departments that will escort Chevel into San Juan County Saturday afternoon.

Family, friends and fans are encouraged to line the streets of Aztec, Flora Vista and Farmington with signs, flags and more to welcome her home.

"The enthusiasm, support and love our community has shown Chevel in this journey is a testament to the quality of people who comprise Farmington," said Farmington Mayor Nate Duckett.

A welcome home rally is scheduled to take place inside the Scorpion Arena at Farmington High School.

The procession will go down Highway 516 between 12:30 and 1:30 through Aztec and Flora Vista, before heading to Farmington. The procession in Farmington will go down Main Street to Pinon Hills to College Boulevard to 30th Street and then to Sunset, finally ending at the high school.

Doors at the school will open at 1 p.m. with Chevel expected to arrive around 2 p.m. Seating will be on a first come first served basis.
