RIO RANCHO, N.M. – A video of two 12-year-old girls fighting at a park in Rio Rancho has landed a father in jail.

Police say Mark Pappas, 33, is the man encouraging his daughter to beat up another girl.

“Light her up,” Pappas could be heard telling his daughter.

The 12-year-old who was attacked has a busted lip and bite marks on her shoulder and ear.

“I was like screaming, ‘get off of me,’ and her sister pulled my hair, so that got her off of me,” Grace said.

Her hair was still at the park, near Loma Colorado Dr. and Northern Blvd., stuck to a piece of gum on the ground, a day after the fight.

The video shows Pappas pulling Grace’s hair, as he encouraged his daughter to continue fighting.

“Why aren't you fighting? Punch that *expletive in her *expletive face,” Pappas could be heard saying on the video.

Police have charged Pappas with two counts of child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Police say his daughter could also be charged.
