BERNALILLO CO., N.M. - Fire restrictions are now in place in unincorporated areas of Bernalillo County, which is outside the city limits of Albuquerque.

The Bernalillo County Commission voted Tuesday to ban the sale of aerial fireworks and ground fireworks.

The ban includes aerial shell kit-reloadable tubes, aerial missile-type rockets, helicopters, aerial spinners, stick-type rockets, roman candles, firecrackers, and chasers.

Violators could be fined up to $1,000 and sentenced to less than one year in jail.

The ban will remain in place through July 12.
