The Bernalillo County Commission voted Tuesday to ban the sale of aerial fireworks and ground fireworks.

The ban includes aerial shell kit-reloadable tubes, aerial missile-type rockets, helicopters, aerial spinners, stick-type rockets, roman candles, firecrackers, and chasers.

Violators could be fined up to $1,000 and sentenced to less than one year in jail.

The ban will remain in place through July 12.
