ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Facebook’s investment in Los Lunas via a multimillion-dollar data center will be getting even bigger yet again.

Gov. Susana Martinez announced Tuesday morning that the data center – which is expected to bring in hundreds of jobs for the area – will triple in size from its previously planned two buildings to a total of six.

The expansion will bring the total planned size of the center to nearly 3 million square feet.

A statement by Martinez’s office states the expansion will “support thousands of jobs for years to come,” as the previously planned finish date for construction will now be pushed back three years, to 2023.

“This shows even more encouraging momentum, and we’ll continue using our powerful tools and reforms to compete for more jobs and investments,” Martinez said in a statement.

Earlier this month, Los Lunas village officials told KOB they are already seeing an economic return on investment from the project.
