ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The deadline to file your taxes is Tuesday.

Procrastinators may consider filing on their phones to save time, but experts say that's not a good idea. That's because they say filing on your phone will require you to take a picture of your W-2, leading to the possibility of that vital form lingering on digital storage or the cloud.

Experts say that's an invitation to get hacked, and that you should also avoid filing on public Wi-Fi.

"If you're sitting in a coffee shop (or) fast food restaurant and you decide to do your tax return, you don't know who's out there lurking around who could hop on your phone and get access to your most sensitive information," said Megan Gorman of Chequers Financial Management.

Scammers can also use malware to steal tax account logins. According to Symantec, mobile malware is on the rise, having increased by 54 percent in 2017 alone.
