APD: Rideshare driver shot, killed passenger on I-25

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Albuquerque police revealed that a rideshare driver shot and killed a passenger Sunday on I-25.


According to police, the driver and the two passengers got into a confrontation before the driver fired the shot.

Officers arrived on the scene to find 27-year-old James Porter lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was declared dead at the scene.

Police said numerous people called 911 to report it the incident. Detectives do plan on following up with those callers and other witnesses.

A search warrant for the vehicle will be performed at a later date.

This remains an ongoing investigation.
