Increase in conventions leads to boost for ABQ's tourism economy

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Albuquerque is drawing more conventions, in turn providing a boost to the local tourism industry.

According to a report by the Albuquerque Business First, Visit Albuquerque says that 2017 was the strongest year for conventions in the Duke City since 2010. The city's lodger's tax saw a more than 3 percent increase over the last 12 months.

The tourism industry generates around $2 billion in Albuquerque, and $69 million in tax revenue.
