ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Albuquerque Isotopes took the field Sunday searching for a series win in their final game against the Reno Aces.
Strong pitching kept the game a tight 3-2 affair until Albuquerque's bats exploded for 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning that saw catcher Tom Murphy clear the bases with a double.
Reno tried to rally in the late innings, but the fifth-inning offensive explosion by Albuquerque would prove too much to overcome. The Isotopes notched win No. 23, and a victory in the four-game series.
They'll next take on Salt Lake, which comes to town for a four-game set beginning Monday.
