Albuquerque business owner shot, suspect dead following encounter in parking lot

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - A suspect is dead following a late night shooting at an Albuquerque business.

Police were called to the area near Jefferson and Mcleod Friday night when a business owner reported a suspicious person in the parking lot casing vehicles.

Police say the business owner encountered the suspect and was shot during the encounter. The extent of the business owner's injuries is not known at this time.

Officers were able to locate the suspect inside a construction vehicle on the property and say the suspect was deceased.

Homicide detectives conducted interviews and the incident remains under investigation.
