Police say the suspect, later identified as Kenneth Paul Abeyta, 58, was seen climbing on the roof of the former Golden Corral restaurant at Central Avenue and Eubank Boulevard around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

According to police, Abeyta ignored commands from officers, prompting a larger response from APD.

Tixier said Abeyta was taken into custody without incident around 5:30 a.m.

Editor's note: APD initially provided the wrong name of the suspect who was arrested. They corrected that information Wednesday evening.
