Lawsuit claims city is violating equal pay laws

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The City of Albuquerque is facing a lawsuit over the way it pays female employees.

The class action suit alleges the city pays women less per hour than men in most positions.

It claims the city is violating the Fair Pay for Women Act, which requires employers to pay the same rate to women for jobs requiring equal skill, effort, responsibility and working conditions.
