ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – On Friday, you could see "Monday"—the name of a new movie premiering as part of the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival's lineup.

The journey to get the film to the big screen, however, started on the small screen.

Local filmmaker Alejandro Montoya took part in a reality competition series called "Rebel Without A Crew" with filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, in which he and other amateur auteurs had the chance to create their movies while overcoming some hurdles in the process.

"We had to do this movie for seven grand with no crew in 14 days," Montoya said. "We are really excited to premiere here. If people want to support independent films and laugh and have a good time, this is the movie for you."

"Monday" is screening Friday at 8 p.m. and tickets can be purchased here
