ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Albuquerque Police Department responded to a crash Saturday night that officers described as the worst scene they had ever seen.

Police say that it appears that a woman was crossing Louisana near Gibson when she was hit by a car. Officers said the woman was killed.

APD reports that two cars had possibly been racing when one of the cars hit the woman and then veered into an apartment building.

There were four people in the car that rammed into the apartment. Three of them were taken to the hospital where they were listed in critical condition. The driver is in police custody.

Police say this should be a warning for others who street race around Albuquerque.

The other car involved never stopped. The investigation is still ongoing.
