Benjamin Marquez was in court Saturday morning for the incident, which unfolded Friday morning. Police say Marquez was high on drugs when he shot his friend in the hands near Charleston and Zuni.

That friend told police Marquez became paranoid after they ingested drugs together.

When police caught up with Marquez, he refused to cooperate and hid in a house on Dallas Street before being taken into custody about an hour later.
