New Mexico reports 36 new deaths, 5,547 additional COVID-19 cases

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – On Thursday, the New Mexico Department of Health reported 36 additional COVID-19-related deaths and a single-day record of 5,547 COVID-19 cases. The previous daily record was 4,246 cases reported last Friday, Jan. 7.

The latest deaths include:

  • A male in his 30s from Bernalillo County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A male in his 90s from Bernalillo County. The individual was hospitalized and was a resident of the Genesis Healthcare Uptown facility in Albuquerque.
  • A female in her 70s from Chaves County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A second female in her 70s from Chaves County. The individual had underlying conditions.
  • A female in her 50s from Curry County. The individual was hospitalized.
  • A male in his 50s from Doña Ana County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A second male in his 50s from Doña Ana County. The individual was hospitalized.
  • A female in her 60s from Doña Ana County. The individual had underlying conditions.
  • A male in his 60s from Doña Ana County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A male in his 70s from Doña Ana County. The individual was hospitalized.
  • A second male in his 70s from Doña Ana County. The individual had underlying conditions.
  • A male in his 80s from Doña Ana County. The individual had underlying conditions.
